ShapeShifter is a mathematics program, written in Java, to
draw graphs written in algebraic form. For example, equations can be typed in the form
f(x) = a*x^b + sin ln (x/2). The parameters that are not the variable can then be adjusted
dynamically to change the shape of the graph.
Inspired by Graphmatica, by KSoft, ShapeShifter adds the novel ability to change parameters on the fly.
This should be particularly useful to study physical equations. However, due to its infancy, its
robustness and feature list remains dwarfed by other non-open source products.
ShapeShifter is designed to be very user friendly and yet full of features. The latter is yet to be
accomplished, but in due time. If you find the interface 'unfriendly', please feel free to
tell us.
This program is open source and lisenced under the
General Public Lisence (GPL), which means you are free to distribute, modify and redistribute
the software. However, derivatives have to be GPLed too.
It is still under heavy development, but alpha version 0.7 is available for
download. User feedback would be
greatly appreciated.
Use it at your own risk. It is not yet stable!
